Attention Parents, Staff, and Community Stakeholders! Macon County School System is reaching out to our community to ask for donations to assist with hurricane relief efforts. As you aware, many of our neighboring school systems experienced tremendous losses due to Hurricane Helene. Many of them are still without power and students are unable to go to school. We are so thankful that our community was not severely impacted and that we are safe and not displaced. With that being said, we want to do our part to assist with supporting some of school systems but we cannot do this without your help!

Always Remember September 11, 2024 Bulldog Company of Macon County High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) took a moment to reflect and remember September 11, 2001. Americans watched in horror as the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 left nearly 3,000 people dead in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 20 years later, they watched in sorrow as the nation’s military mission in Afghanistan – which began less than a month after 9/11 – came to a bloody and chaotic conclusion. The enduring power of the Sept. 11 attacks is clear: An overwhelming number of Americans who, like Warrant Officer Wafford (Senior Naval Science Instructor), are old enough to recall the day, remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. Yet an ever-growing number of Americans have no personal memory of that day, either because they were too young or not yet born, like our NJROTC Cadets. Today's reflection concluded with the lowering of our National Ensign to half mast at both the middle and high schools. The impacts of the Sept. 11 attacks were deeply felt and will forever remain as a turning point in American History. Let us always remember!

Parents and Students, MCHS will not provide daily loaners for Chromebooks beginning this year. Students are required to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school each day. The fee to replace lost chargers is $25. All Chromebooks must have the clear and black cover on them at all times. Taking off the cover voids the warranty, and students will have to pay for damages. Please encourage your children to bring any broken Chromebooks to the school for replacement. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Barfield. Note: Students without a Chromebook will only be given a loaner when he/she must complete a test.
